KBR Gets Task Order For Work in Bahrain  [Jun 1]
“The U.S. Army selected engineering and construction company KBR to support the construction of a life support area for troops operating in Bahrain.  Houston’s KBR says it will deploy approximately 1,400 of its personnel for the life-support area for the task order under the company’s Logistics Civil Augmentation Program IV contract vehicle.  The approximately $28 million award also includes the construction of hazardous material management, firefighting services and airfield operations facilities along with a life support area.  The new facilities will used by Army and U.S. Navy units deployed at the Defense Department’s sites in Bahrain..”  [Complete Report]

Bankers Held in Bahrain Allege Libel  [Jun 1]
“A London-based private investigator libellously accused three British executives of a $2bn scam in a bank collapse that has led to them being banned from leaving the Gulf state of Bahrain, according to a High Court claim. Hibis Europe wrongly alleged the trio had “systematically perpetrated a criminal fraud on a giant scale”, state the documents, which highlight the risks facing private detectives commissioned to probe suspected financial wrongdoing in corporations.  The alleged defamation – contested by Hibis – is the latest twist in a bitter legal dispute between two Saudi Arabian tycoons that has dragged in big financial institutions and executives from the surrounding region and beyond.. ..The bankers are caught up in the increasingly public falling out between two troubled Saudi conglomerates.
